WHERE EVERYDAY
PURCHASES MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Here at Booksio, each month we’ll highlight a specific charitable theme close to our hearts, and the highlighted organization(s) with the core mission to improve and address it. 10% of your sales will automatically go to making a difference towards our theme, so sit back, shop, and let us take care of the rest! Featured Cause Page Content: The modern women’s rights movement began in the 19th century when feminists focused on women’s legal rights, especially the right to vote. In the 1960s and 70s, women’s rights focused on bodily autonomy and the liberation of women’s lived experiences. Today, we’ve seen the increasing politicization of women’s bodies and a fierce debate over trans rights and who gets to call themselves women.
Here at Booksio, we stand with all women. We recognize that women’s rights are human rights. We want to do what we can to make sure that all women’s bodies, minds, and spirits are nurtured and valued. Through hyper local and national organizations, we want to do our part in improving quality of life and increasing opportunities for over half of American citizens. Therefore, during the month of March, we will give 10% of all profits to these fantastic organizations:
-
Flo Charlotte – Based in North Carolina, Flo Charlotte aims to provide hygiene supplies to adults and teens who may not have access to them otherwise. They focus their efforts primarily on families experiencing homelessness, but they also support domestic violence shelters, schools, and safe havens for LGBTQ+ teens and young adults.
Girls Who Code – Begun under the White House Science & Technology Initiative in 2012, Girls Who Code runs programs during the academic year teaching high school girls computing skills like programming, robotics and web design. As of 2022, there were more than 8,500 Girls Who Code clubs across America and the world, with 500,000 girls and non-binary people coding worldwide.
-
Planned Parenthood – In 1916, the idea of Planned Parenthood began at the first birth control clinic, in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Today, Planned Parenthood operates more than 600 health centers across the United States and is the nation’s leading provider and advocate of high-quality, affordable health care for women, men, and young people. Planned Parenthood is also the nation’s largest provider of sex education.
Basic human rights are always worth fighting for, and now more than ever, it’s important to stay informed. Learn more about women’s lives, their challenges and triumphs, and ways you can affect change in your own communities.
